How to Take Care of Your NEW Skin

You have just had Micro-Dermabrasion. This is superficial in nature and affect each of us differently. Many clients who undergo this treatment have only a little redness for 2 to 4 hours. Others will have a very slight flaking or peeling in a few localized areas for 1 or 2 days. Sometimes, an area of crusting may develop. If this occurs, apply an antibiotic ointment, like Neosporin or Bacitracin, to the area.

DO NOT PICK AT YOUR SKIN - IT MAY CAUSE SCARRING!

• Do not expose treated area to the sun.

• You may apply makeup over the treated area, but remove gently.

• Gently cleanse the area with a mild antibacterial soap. You may rinse with water and lightly pat the area dry.

• Absolutely no scrubbing. Do not pick at the area (no rubbing, scrubbing, picking, rolling, sloughing or any other word for getting the dead skin off!!!) Allow it to flake off on its own.

• Do not soak treated area in bath, swimming pool or hot tub. Do not swim in fresh, salt or chlorinated pool water.

• It is normal to “purge” or break-out after a treatment – just do not pick at it.

• After “Ultimate” or “Ultimate Best In The Universe” treatments you may apply antibiotic ointment (Neosporin+ or Bacitracin) as needed. Do not get Neosporin+ in the eyes - it will cause a corneal abrasion.

• If you work-out or sweat for any reason, it will burn or tingle. Kind-of like putting salt in an open wound. You may want to wait 24 hours before strong physical exertion.

Also do not over-exfoliate the area when you see the dead skin form. You do not want to cause any redness or tenderness - the area may scar. The best thing to do (even if it looks bad) is to leave it alone.

During the entire time of your healing you should apply the advised moisturizer and skin care products for your specific skin type as needed. Do not apply any medications, glycolic acid, or Retin-A products immediately after the treatment or your skin will become irritated. Avoid direct sunlight for 2 - 4 days and wear an SPF at all times. For the first 4 days: If it BURNS – TAKE IT OFF!
